Lambeth North (London Underground)
Lambeth North is a London Underground station in the London Borough of Lambeth . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 1 on Westminster Bridge Road. In 2014, 3.57 million passengers used this station served by the Bakerloo Line . The Imperial War Museum is a few hundred meters away.
The Baker Street and Waterloo Railway , the predecessor of the Bakerloo Line, took the station on March 10, 1906 under the name Kennington Road . The southern terminus was here for almost five months until the route was extended to Elephant & Castle on August 5, 1906 . On that day the station was renamed Westminster Bridge Road . On April 15, 1917, the station was given its current name Lambeth North . From November 9th, 1996 to July 14th, 1997 it was closed for renovation work.
The station, designed by architect Leslie Green , has two elevators and a spiral staircase leading down to the platforms; these are about 25 meters below the earth's surface.
