Lamia (mistress of Themistocles)
Lamia was one in the 5th century BC. Chr. Living Athenian courtesan . According to a tradition received from Athenaios by Idomeneus von Lampsakos , a pupil of Epicurus , who likes to tell piquant gossip stories , Lamia and three other of her fellow classmates allegedly drove to the market with the Athenian general and politician Themistocles in a team of four. From the text of Idomeneus, however, according to Atheneus, it was not clear whether the four hetaera pulled the carriage themselves or whether they sat with Themistocles and let themselves be pulled by horses.
