societies

ABL (1997 to 1998)

Milton-Jones began her professional career in the American Basketball League with the Portland Power , which she selected in the 1997 ABL Draft in the first round in second place. She only played in the 1997/98 season for the Powers, as the league was disbanded after that season. Therefore, like many other ABL players, she switched to the WNBA.

WNBA (since 1999)

Milton-Jones was finally selected in the 1999 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks in the first round in fourth place. Already in her first season for the Sparks, she was always in the starting line-up, which apart from Lisa Leslie no one from the Sparks managed. At Leslie's side, she made it to the Conference Finals with the Sparks in the first two seasons, but both times it was the end of the line for her and the Sparks. In the 2001 season she was not in the starting line-up for the first time in all games, but she still got a lot of playing time with 29.3 minutes, and with an average of 10.3 she was able to break the 10-point mark for the second time in a row. The biggest success this season was undoubtedly winning the championship. She was able to repeat this masterpiece with the Sparks in the following season. In the 2003 season she was almost always on the field with a playing time of 35 minutes per game. She achieved a new personal record with 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in both categories, the latter still valid today. In the 2004 season, she was due to an injury only in the first 19 games for the Sparks on the field. After the 2004 season, she was transferred to the Washington Mystics for Chamique Holdsclaw and a first-round pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft . While she regularly reached the playoffs with the Sparks, she just missed the playoffs in the 2005 season with the Mystics. In the 2006 season , with her average points of 14.6 per game, she played a key role in ensuring that the Mystics reached the playoffs for the fourth time in their history, but the playoffs were already over for them after the first round. On April 22, 2008, she was transferred back to the Sparks for Taj McWilliams-Franklin and a first-round pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft . In the 2008 season, she was still very much playing time and was an important player on the side of Leslie and Candace Parker . This season she reached the Conference Finals with the Sparks for the fifth time after they had surprisingly defeated the Seattle Storm . However, they had no chance in the finals against the San Antonio Silver Stars . In February 2009, the Sparks announced that they were extending their contract with DeLisha for three years to 2012. After this contract ended, she moved to the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2013 . In the course of the season, however, it was already passed on to the New York Liberty . A team change also took place for them during the 2014 season . This time the Atlanta Dream was the target. Milton-Jones is currently still a member of this team. She has now played 499 WNBA games, making it the record holder. In the 2016 season she has the opportunity to become the first woman to play her 500th WNBA game.

European teams (since 2001)

Milton-Jones uses the annual WNBA season break to play for various European basketball teams. In 2003 she won the Euroleague Women with UMMC Ekaterinburg . She was able to repeat this success in 2006 with the Gambrinus Brno . After further positions in Spain and the Czech Republic, she most recently played for Tarsus Belediye in Turkey.
