Career
college
From 2004 to 2008 Parker played for the University of Tennessee women's basketball team ( Tennessee Lady Volunteers ). During this time, she won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship twice with the Lady Volunteers . Furthermore, she received numerous awards during this time.
WNBA
Because of her excellent work for the Lady Volunteers, she was voted first in the 2008 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks on April 9, 2008 . In her first game in the WNBA she got 34 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists (assists) against the Phoenix Mercury . So far, no other player has scored as many points on her WNBA debut. Up until that point, Cynthia Cooper held the record with 25 points in the 1997 season . That season she was also named Rookie of the Year , Most Valuable Player and Best Rebounder . In the 2009 season, she was able to enter until later because of her pregnancy. In the end, she completed 25 games for the Sparks, averaging 13.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. In the following seasons, Parker was one of the pillars of the LA team and was regularly in the starting lineup. The great team success did not materialize. It wasn't until the 2016 season that she reached the WNBA finals for the first time with the Sparks team. These were just won after an exciting battle with the Minnesota Lynx and Candace Parker was then honored as the best player in the final series . In the 2017 season , she lost the final series with the Sparks against the Lynx. In 2018 and 2019 , the Sparks season ended prematurely in the playoffs with Parker.
Europe / Asia
Like many WNBA players, Parker plays regularly in Europe during the WNBA season break. Since 2009 she has been on the pitch for the Russian team from UGMK Yekaterinburg for a long time . In 2008 she won the gold medal with the US national basketball team at the Summer Olympics in Beijing . She was able to repeat this title with the team in London in 2012 .
