The United States women's national basketball team is the national selection of American female basketball players. It is selected by the national basketball association and represents it at international tournaments.

The team is the most successful women's national basketball team in the world and has won eight gold medals and one silver and one bronze medal each in ten Olympic participations.

The national team did not lose a basketball game between 1994 and 2006, only losing to Russia in the semi -finals of the 2006 World Basketball Championship .
