Wade Trophy
The Wade Trophy has been awarded annually since 1978 for the best female basketball player in the US college league NCAA . Only players in Division I , the top division of the NCAA, are considered for the award . The Wade Trophy is named after college coach Lily Margaret Wade , who is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame . The trophy was the first college-level basketball award for women. In addition to sporting performance, the aspect of social role model function is also taken into account when awarding the award. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport are responsible for the award .
