The Handball Club Eynatten-Raeren (HCER) is a handball club from Eynatten in the municipality of Raeren , part of the German-speaking community of Belgium . HC Eynatten-Raeren plays its home games in the Eynattener sports hall on Lichtenbuscher Straße.

General

HC Eynatten was founded in 1972 in Eynatten, Belgium, a district of the municipality of Raeren, as a pure handball club. The men's team of the club was Belgian handball champion three times between 2000 and 2002 and runner-up in 2003. HC Eynatten won the Belgian Cup in 2000 and reached the cup final again in 2006.

In 2008 HC Eynatten and HC Raeren 76, founded in 1976, merged to form the new HC Eynatten-Raeren.

Season 2018/2019

The cadets (U18) of HC Eynatten-Raeren prevailed on May 19, 2019 in the final of the Wallonia Championship against United Brussels HC with 31:24.

Despite losing to Antwerp on the last play-down matchday, the women of HC Eynatten stayed in the first national handball division of women . The decisive factor for this was the clear defeat of the direct competitor Overpelt .

The club's first men's team played in the play-offs for promotion to the BeNe League, the top division that unites the best clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands ( BENE-LeagueHandball ) in the 2018/2019 season . But they missed the promotion and remained in the 1st national handball division .

Season 2019/2020

The 1st men's team is currently playing in the play-downs against relegation from the 1st national handball division . However, relegation is rather unlikely due to a good starting position. The team lost the quarter-finals of the national cup against league rivals Tournai with 29:30.

In the regular season, the two players Raphael Kötters and Eric Vreven scored 88 goals each, making them the third-best goalscorer.
