State Institute for the Mentally Ill Konradstein
The State Institute for the Mentally Ill Konradstein , previously Provincial Insane Asylum Conradstein , was the third psychiatric nursing home in West Prussia . Today the Starogard Gdański Hospital is located here .
history
Its establishment was decided in 1893 by the Provincial Parliament of the Province of West Prussia . It was created on the grounds of the Konradstein Manor ( Kocborowo ), about 1.5 km away from Prussian Stargard, today Starogard Gdański . In 1909 there were 1282 patients here.
After the invasion of Poland , Prussian Stargard returned to the territory of the Reich. From September 1939 patient murders occurred.
Among other things, the victims lie in the forest near Szpęgawsk .
It is controversial in the literature whether the National Socialists had a “ children's department ” set up here.
Today there is the Szpital dla Nerwowo i Psychicznie Chorych w Starogardzie Gdańskim .
