State Data Protection Act

State data protection laws are the state law counterparts to the Federal Data Protection Act (for federal authorities and private companies) that have been passed in the 16 federal states .

The state data protection laws apply to the respective state authorities and local governments . If necessary, they apply in addition to special legal regulations such as the data protection law of the Tenth Book of the Social Security Code (SGB X).

The state data protection laws also regulate the legal status of the respective state data protection officer .

history

The Hessian was the world's first data protection law. Unless otherwise stated, the following table shows the date on which it first came into force.
