State service flag

The state service flag is a special form of the state flag , which is usually used by German and Austrian federal states as a national emblem .

Germany

In contrast to traditional state flags, state service flags usually have a state coat of arms. Accordingly, their use is often reserved for agencies bearing the coat of arms only; Unauthorized use of state service flags is viewed as an administrative offense in some federal states, while other federal states do not differentiate between state flag and state service flag and allow both equally for private use.

Austria

The state service flags in Austria consist of the state flag, which has the state coat of arms in its center. Mainly agencies of the federal states use the state service flags. Use by others is not forbidden, provided that this does not simulate public authorization.
