List of flags of German countries
In this list of flags of German countries , all flags of the German countries can be found in alphabetical order.
General
In some countries, a distinction is made between national flags and official flags . The latter may only be hoisted by the relevant state authorities, which also applies to the state coats of arms. The depiction of the official flags and coats of arms as part of an encyclopedic work is permitted.
Bavaria does not have an official flag, but has two state flags, which are listed as equivalent in the state constitution. It often happens that one sees a Bavarian stripe or diamond pattern flag with the national coat of arms; however, this is not an official Bavarian flag.
Bremen has three state flags, whereby the authorities use them with medium or flag coats of arms (these two flags are equal and only differ in the number of stripes), while the citizens are allowed to use all three state flags.
In Germany, in addition to the rectangular flags shown here, high rectangular flag variants (hanging flags, banners, flapping flags) are very often in use, especially in inland countries.
Flags of the countries
With the blazon it must be noted that it is described from the point of view of the bearer of the coat of arms. From the observer's point of view, left and right therefore appear swapped.
