Established by law on July 23, 1991:

In the constitution of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania it only says:
“The state colors are blue, white, yellow and red. The law regulates the details about state colors and state coats of arms and their use. "

The national emblem law states:
“The colors of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are ultramarine blue, white, yellow, white and vermilion. The flag is striped lengthways. Sample 1 is decisive for the details of the design.
In the two white fields, the service flag shows the coat of arms of Mecklenburg and, in the designation of the Western Pomerania region, of Pomerania without shields next to each other. The yellow stripe is interrupted for this. For details of the design, sample 2 of the annex is authoritative. If the official flag is set as a banner or hanging flag in portrait format, it shows the two coats of arms, one above the other, the coat of arms of Mecklenburg on top and the coat of arms of West Pomerania below. "

Hoisting flags have a ratio of 25 (length) to 15 (width). Hanging flags are at least five parts longer, banners are usually twice as long.
