The state of Thuringia in Germany

This list shows the flags in Thuringia with its currently 17 districts and 6 independent cities. Further flags can be reached via the navigation bar at the end of the page.

The current flag of Thuringia was introduced by the law on the emblems of the state of Thuringia . § 1 reads:

“The coat of arms of the state of Thuringia forms an upright, eight-fold red and silver striped, gold-crowned and gold-armored lion on a blue background, surrounded by eight silver stars. The original drawing of the coat of arms is kept in the Thuringian State Archives.
The national colors are white and red. "

Accordingly, the Constitution of the Free State of Thuringia says:

“The national colors are white and red. The country's coat of arms is an upright, eight-fold red and silver striped, gold-crowned and gold-armored lion on a blue background, surrounded by eight silver stars. "

The ordinance for the implementation of the law on the emblems of the state of Thuringia of April 11, 1991 specifies in more detail:

“The national flag consists of a white and a red vertical stripe of equal width. The width and length of the flag must have a ratio of at least 1 to 2.
The state service flag is the state flag that shows the state coat of arms vertically in the middle.
The state flag and state service flag can be used in vertical or horizontal striped form according to the pattern in Appendix 2 or Appendix 3. "
