Ludwigshafen am Rhein			Approved March 31, 1938: Hoisted flag: Divided by red and yellow and red in a ratio of 1: 3: 1. Banner flag: The coat of arms in a yellow square, underneath divided equally by red and yellow and red. Today's coat of arms of the city of Ludwigshafen shows a lowered golden anchor in red. (Approved on September 14, 1937 by the Reichsstatthalter in Bavaria.)
Mainz			The flag of the city of Mainz shows the figure of the city's coat of arms on a red flag cloth and is therefore a coat of arms flag. "The coat of arms of the city of Mainz shows two six-spoke silver wheels, which are connected by a cross, on a red shield with a round bottom." The city colors are red and white. (Coat of arms in the shape of the 16th to 18th centuries, awarded again in 1915 by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig von Hessen )
