The state initiative StadtBauKultur NRW 2020 is a partnership initiative of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with professional associations and institutions from the fields of architecture, engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, research, housing, retail, art and the like. a. The aim of the state initiative StadtBauKultur NRW 2020 is to make specialists, decision-makers and laypeople more aware of the building culture of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is financed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and pursues exclusively charitable purposes.
history
The organization was founded in 2001 as the first institution of its kind in Germany. It was set up for ten years to support the structural change in North Rhine-Westphalia with a campaign for good planning and building. In 2011 it was decided to continue and develop the state initiative for another decade. The initiative has been operating as Baukultur Nordrhein-Westfalen since the beginning of 2020 .

The organization is composed of the StadtBauKultur NRW association and the M: AI - Museum for Architecture and Engineering in North Rhine-Westphalia.
