The Museum of Architecture and Engineering (M: AI) is a project of the state initiative StadtBauKultur NRW . It is a mobile forum for the presentation of building culture in North Rhine-Westphalia . The activities are exhibitions, publications, temporary actions and artistic interventions.

The M: AI Museum for Architecture and Engineering in North Rhine-Westphalia was founded in 2005 as a mobile forum for the presentation and reflection of architecture and engineering. It does not have a permanent exhibition center. The tasks of the M: AI are the presentation and communication of building culture in North Rhine-Westphalia. Architecture and engineering are considered together. The M: AI takes up current architectural topics and discussions in North Rhine-Westphalia and looks at them in national and international contexts. The exhibitions usually take place in buildings that have a content-related relationship to the respective topic. In addition to exhibitions, the M: AI holds lectures and publishes books on architectural topics.

Partners are the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects, the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Engineers, the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Association of the Rhineland Westphalia Housing Industry eV (VdW RW). The M: AI receives project-related support from the state's universities and companies from the construction value chain. The M: AI is a partner of the international association of architectural museums, centers and institutes and is advised by architects and engineers.

The subject of the M: AI presentations are architecture and engineering, planning, town planning and urbanism , gardening and landscaping .
