history

1926:

On July 9, 1926, farmers from the area around Lüneburg founded the insurance association "Sickness Support Association Lüneburg and Surroundings for Independent Farmers". The northern part of the administrative district of Lüneburg is defined as the business area. In the founding year 1926, 896 insured persons were registered.

1926-1935:

In the first few years of the existence of the sickness support association, there is a risk that the contributions to cover the insurance benefits will not be sufficient. Therefore, the ordinary general meeting in August 1926 decided to introduce a low deductible. This and not least the cost-conscious behavior of the members makes it possible to build up initial reserves. At this point the number of insured persons increases to over 10,000 insured persons.

1936 - 1952:

One year before the ten-year existence, the first independent administration building in Lüneburg is occupied. A novelty on the insurance market are the special tariffs for dental treatment and dentures.

In the war years, business operations can be maintained with minor restrictions.

After the Second World War, a membership of 27,000 remains with an annual contribution income of 755,000 Reichsmarks. Thanks to the high level of commitment of the employees and unbureaucratic claims settlement, the number of members is increasing again. The field service is also being expanded. In August 1949, around 40,000 people were already insured.

A renaming in "Landeskrankenhilfe insurance association on mutuality seat in Lüneburg" takes place.

1952 - 1964:

The Landeskrankenhilfe VVaG (LKH) is growing. As the business area is continuously expanding, new offices are required. In addition, the product range is being expanded to include daily hospital allowance insurance, in addition to the health insurance.

As the previous administration building was no longer sufficient, the main administration was relocated to the acquired administration building at Schießgrabenstrasse 8/9 in Lüneburg in 1952.

1953:

Landeslebenshilfe VVaG (LLH) is founded as a sister company of the LKH. The company emerged from the death fund "United Brotherhood of 1784 zu Bardowick".

1965-1967:

After four years of planning and construction, the LLH moved into a new administration building at Uelzener Str. 120 in Lüneburg in 1965. The supervisory authority approves the expansion of the business area to the entire Federal Republic including Berlin.

The tariff offer will be expanded. In full health insurance for the self-employed and employees, tariffs with and without excess are introduced. Additional tariffs are offered for legally insured persons.

1978:

For the first time, the LKH grants a “premium reimbursement if there is no damage.” This annual reimbursement is used by many long-term insured persons who receive up to 4/12 of the premiums for outpatient insurance cover back.

1992:

The company continues to expand. A visible sign is the new building on the administration building of the main administration in Lüneburg, which was occupied in 1992.

2001:

The introduction of the “premium refund for cost-conscious behavior” at the LKH is a novelty in the industry. Since then, a growing number of LKH members have taken part.

2012 - 2013:

A case law of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) comes into force, so that all tariffs for private health insurance must be calculated gender-neutral. The LKH uses the legal obligation to put the tried and tested insurance protection to the test and to modernize it.

In 2013, a completely revised range of tariffs for full and supplementary health insurance will be launched on the market, including tariffs A / S / Z for full health insurance.

2014:

For the first time, the LKH grants a “premium refund if no benefits are paid” for the new A / S / Z tariffs. Insured persons can get back up to 40% of the premium for the outpatient and dental insurance cover in the tariffs A / S / Z with no benefits.

2016:

So that long-term customers in full health insurance can also benefit from modern insurance protection, the LKH offers the supplementary tariffs E, which extend the long-standing insurance protection to the level of the newly introduced tariffs A / S / Z - and beyond!

With the supplementary tariff E, the LKH is one of the winners of the innovation prize for the insurance industry in 2017.
