State association of municipal migrant representatives in Baden-Württemberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The LAKA was founded on June 13, 1998 under the name "State Working Group of the Municipal Foreign Representatives of Baden-Württemberg" by elected representatives of municipal migrant bodies. At the general assembly of members in July 2007, the name was changed to "State Association of Municipal Migrants Representations in Baden-Württemberg" .

The association is the first migrant representation in Baden-Württemberg, which is organized as a self-organization of migrants independent of nationalities, non-partisan, non-denominational and works on a voluntary basis. The LAKA sees itself as a representative body for migrants in Baden-Württemberg and as such as a legitimate dialogue partner vis-à-vis the state government, the state parliament, other relevant associations and organizations at state level as well as comparable migrant bodies in other federal states and the Federal Foreigners Advisory Council (BAB).

Tasks and board

The tasks of the LAKA include in particular the supra-local assertion of migrants' interests, the participation in the political formation of opinions and will of the migrants, as well as the preparation of statements on political issues. LAKA supports the formation of new migrant representations and provides advanced training for members of the local migrant representations. Finally, one would like to stimulate the exchange of experience and information between the migrant representatives.

The LAKA pursues the goal of eliminating the integration deficits in the receiving majority society and the migrant society to be accepted and to achieve equal political participation for all migrants. This is done by naming specific integration deficits in the administrations (e.g. lack of intercultural skills) and promoting willingness to integrate on the part of migrants.

Office and board

The office of LAKA Baden-Württemberg lies with the administrative office of the integration officer of the state government of Baden-Württemberg.

LAKA is chaired by Rino Iervolino, a lawyer from Esslingen, and other board members are Argyri Paraschaki, Kerim Arpad, Vesna Groznica, Memet Kılıç , Bernhard Mechler, Dejan Perc, Chen-Ko Sung and Pejo Vukic.
