The landscape protection area Popenser Gehölz and its surroundings is a landscape protection area in the district of Aurich in the state of Lower Saxony . It bears the number LSG AUR 00009.
Description of the area
The protected landscape area, designated in 1966, covers an area of 0.16 square kilometers and is located within the settlement area of Popens , a district of Aurich . It consists largely of mixed forest areas with grassland (pasture) in the transition areas.
According to the findings of the district of Aurich, the area has a local recreational function, is a "structuring and landscape-defining natural structural element within a predominantly rural form of settlement as well as a retreat and regeneration area for corresponding species and communities"
