The landscape protection area residual high moor area Kreismoor is a landscape protection area in the district of Aurich in the state of Lower Saxony . It bears the number LSG AUR 00022 and lies entirely in the area of the community of Großefehn .
Description of the area
The landscape protection area, designated in 1985, covers an area of 0.12 square kilometers and is bordered to the east and south by the Kreismoorstrasse. It is a remnant raised bog area with different stages of degeneration, the majority of which is in the succession stage of bushes and birch forest . In the southwest there are individual plots of wet grassland on partially peat high moor.
Protection purpose
General protection purposes are the "securing of remaining raised bog areas because of their importance from a morphological point of view", the "preservation of retreat areas of a specialized flora and fauna", as well as the "revitalization of the landscape through natural character."
