Lancet (foundry)
In the foundry , lancet is the name for a molding tool for smoothing, polishing and cutting in the sand mold.
It is flat, spatula-shaped or spoon-shaped at the two ends of the rod-shaped handle and is used to rework the sand mold by hand. When casting in a lost sand mold , the lancet is used to correct discrepancies and for additions such as the formation of a funnel as a sprue opening.
