Lars Gunnar Larsson

Lars Gunnar Larsson (born 1940), often called Lars G Larsson , is a Swedish expert on nuclear safety , former head of the nuclear reactor safety division of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( EBRD ) and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering.

In 2014, Larsson and Russian scientist Ashot Sarkisov received the Global Energy Prize , an annual award for technological and scientific achievements in the energy sector. They received the award for their work in the field of nuclear safety and the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Larsson worked on the disposal of decommissioned nuclear submarines in the Murmansk region . At the time of the reactor accident at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant , Larsson was a technical attaché in Washington, DC. He is a former head of a division of the Swedish Nuclear Technology Agency and a former environmental and energy policy maker for the Swedish Industrial Association. From 1997 to 2000 he was Head of the EBRD's Nuclear Safety Division and then Head of Swedish bilateral assistance to nuclear safety in Eastern Europe. Today Larsson works as a consultant at SiP Nuclear Consulting AB.
