Laso nature reserve

The Laso nature reserve ( Russian Лазовский заповедник / Lasowski sapowednik , English transcription: Lazovsky Zapovednik ) is a Russian nature reserve in southern Russia .

Located on the coast of the China Sea , mountains rise up to 1,000 meters in the area. The Kievka River flows into the sea here. A large number of different mammals and birds live in the reserve. the very diverse flora contains some endemic and some relic plants.

Protection, monitoring and management

Linda Kerley and her husband Mischa Borissenko have been researching the Siberian tiger (also Amur tiger) and leopard for many years . In 2007 they received annual support from the Fish and Wildlife Foundation 's Save the Tiger Fund program and the Wildlife Conservation Society . They started a new project in Lasowski using camera traps for tigers.
