Latin America Institute (Berlin)
The Latin America Institute (LAI) of the Free University of Berlin is an interdisciplinary teaching and research institution in Berlin-Wilmersdorf , which specializes in the Latin America region. Along with the Eastern European Institute and the John F. Kennedy Institute, it is one of three interdisciplinary so-called central institutes of the FU that specialize in regional studies. It is one of the leading European institutions for teaching and research on Latin America-related topics.
The LAI was founded in 1970. It is home to several professorships in the social sciences and humanities as well as partial courses in the field of bachelor’s training and a master’s course "Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies".
