history
The Lavalleja district, today part of the Barrios Peñarol - Lavalleja , was founded in 1885 by Francisco Piria on his lands. The engineer Aquiles Monzani was responsible for the design. In the past, in the area of the Barrios, in the area of the streets Goes, Figurita and Pastor, the country houses of Aguirre, Lapido, Valle, Menéndez, Crocker, Antonini and Recayte were located.
