Lawsken was a western part of Königsberg (Prussia) , between Rathshof and Juditten .

Surname

The name is derived in Prussian from "laucas": Feld, Acker, Rodeland with fields and meadows.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1286 as " ad campum, qui leek vulgariter nuncupator ". In 1299 it was called " in villam, que Lauxen nuncupator ", in 1396 " Lauken das Dorf ". Around 1405 there were parallel spellings Lauken and Lawsken.

Lawsken was part of the old town together with Rathshof during the time of the order . The village was incorporated in 1905 and developed into a villa suburb.
