Layer technique

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Layer technology is a term used in computer-aided design (CAD) for a method for structuring within drawing files.

Drawings are built up in several levels ( English "layer" or "level"). These levels contain, for example, the contours of objects, hatching or dimensions.

The easy-to-use hiding and showing of the individual layers allows the graphic display to be tailored to the purpose of the drawing.

In many CAD programs, the layer technique is also the only way to assign a property, for example a color, to a predefined group of objects.
