Life by a thread

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Living by a thread is a popular science text and picture book as well as a documentary about web spiders . The film and the book, published in 1975, were created in collaboration between the university professor and former head of the Cologne Zoo, Ernst Josef Kullmann, and the science journalist Horst Stern . The contribution was first broadcast in the television series Sterns Hour with the subtitle The Puzzling World of Spiders at the end of December 1975.

Both the film and the book were very much appreciated by those interested in science. This was mainly due to the mixture of detailed and well-founded information about spiders and their way of life, the very good film recordings and photographs as well as the easily understandable and entertaining presentation of the content by Horst Stern.
