Teaching role

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The role of teacher describes a social role that a teacher assumes within the classroom and the school system . It includes behavioral expectations with regard to the planning and design of lessons as well as with regard to the relationship with students, parents and in the context of the teaching staff.

The role of the teacher is therefore dependent on the methodological design of the lesson. In the course format, the role of the teacher can be described as "imparting knowledge", in training as "instructor", in project as "advisor". The methodological design of the lessons is often classified in a field of tension ranging from "teacher-centered" to "student-oriented" . It is hereby pointed out that the students take on planning tasks in project lessons, for example, which belong to the teacher's area of competence in the course.

Each teaching role requires the teacher to have their own methodological skills and specialist knowledge.
