Master speed range

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DB Netz AG understands the master speed range to be a requirement for the accuracy and quality of track superstructure work that is specified in tenders . The construction work must be designed in such a way that the tracks and points can later be put into operation at the desired speed within the master speed range. In the case of tenders, this is only specified for completely new superstructures, not for other, only superficial measures on existing superstructures.

There are the following master speed ranges:

  • I:> 160 km / h (high-speed traffic),> 230 km / h (high-speed traffic)
  • II: 121 - 160 km / h
  • III: 50 - 120 km / h
  • IS-Bahn: 50 - 120 km / h, tracks that are only used by city high-speed railways according to EBO

The master speed range only affects the structural design of the superstructure, but not the overhead line or train control . The speed actually released can therefore be below the master speed range. In addition, existing curved tracks must be taken into account depending on the built-in cant . After the other restrictions have been eliminated, the track system can be approved for a correspondingly higher speed without further modification.
