Line (communication network)

With line ( English line, trunk ) in a communication network refers to a transmission path via which a communication link can be switched.

The more detailed designation of the line is usually given by an addition, for example

A trunk ( English trunk group ) is a group of lines, which together serve the traffic in a certain direction, and usually switches connect. Individual lines within line bundles are interconnected via a switching device of the exchange.
