The Lenz type n were two-axle narrow gauge - steam locomotives operating on the Ruegen Light Railway and the gripping Kleinbahn were in use. They were no longer taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

history

The operating company Lenz & Co. procured locomotives as uniformly as possible for the railways it manages in order to save costs in purchasing and maintenance. These locomotives were identified by a letter appended to the number: "n" meant a locomotive with 750 mm gauge and five tons of axle pressure. Nine locomotives based on a uniform template were built by Vulcan in 1895 , and another in 1898. They were used on the Rügen Kleinbahn (six locomotives) and the Greifenberger Kleinbahn (four locomotives). The Rügen locomotives were numbered 1 to 6, the Greifenbergs 1 to 4, and the Marienwerder Kleinbahnen numbers 4 to 6, one number is unknown. The whereabouts of the latter locomotives is not known.

The locomotives of the Greifenberger Kleinbahn came to the newly built Marienwerder Kleinbahnen in 1901 , while the Greifenberger Kleinbahn was switched to meter gauge. The Rügen locomotives were retired from 1922, two locomotives (4 and 6) were given the numbers 201 N 2205 and 202 N 2205 of the Pomeranian State Railways in 1940 , and they were also retired in 1948 at the latest.

technical features

The locomotives had an inner frame, the drive was via a Stephenson control with flat slide. The water tank was in the frame, the charcoal boxes were arranged next to the boiler in front of the driver's cab. The locomotives had a Kobel chimney.
