Leopolder Quartet

The Leopolder Quartet Munich was founded in 1976 and consists of the following members:

  • Wolfgang Leopolder, 1st violin
  • Hiroko Yoshida, 2nd violin
  • Gerhard Breinl, viola
  • Friedrich Kleinknecht, violoncello

After winning the chamber music competition in Colmar , a lively concert activity began. World premieres of modern works (e.g. Babette Koblenz), a string quartet by Carl Orff , a Petit Quatuor by Charles Gounod . German record award for the recording of Wolf-Ferrari's chamber music .

The group's partners were Wolfgang Sawallisch, Gerhard Oppitz, Hans Schoeneberger, Eduard Brunner, Dieter Klöcker and Gernot Schmalfuss. In 2007 the string quartet broke up after more than thirty years of activity.
