LernQuadrat is a system of privately run tutoring and educational institutes in Austria. The operator and owner of the “LernQuadrat” brand, which has existed since 2003, is LernQuadrat OG and Bildungsmanagement GmbH in Pfaffstätten, south of Vienna. In 2017 there are around 80 institutes; the oldest have existed since 1996. The majority of the tutoring institutes are license partners or franchise partners. The franchise system started in 2004.
LernQuadrat offers tutoring for students in one-to-one tuition or in groups of 2 to 6 students. Most of the customers are students of general secondary schools (AHS) and vocational middle and higher schools ; 35% are students in the lower grades (10-14 years) and 60% are students in the upper grades (14-19 years). Mathematics and English are the most popular subjects, each accounting for around 40% of the hours given. These and other data on the subject of tutoring were presented by LernQuadrat in studies in 2004 and 2008.
Lessons in 90-minute blocks are mostly given by over 1000 students who work on a fee basis. For this purpose, LernQuadrat maintains a training program.
