Learning from history (abbreviated LaG ) is an online educational portal and magazine devoted to political education and the history of the 20th century.

Focus

The preoccupation with the sensitive areas of German history, such as the Holocaust , the history of National Socialism and the GDR, is almost traditional . The LaG cooperates with various public bodies and foundations.

The sponsoring association not only maintains a certain level on its own portals, but also advocates quality standards for educational portals, also in other languages.

The online portal comprises over 5000 articles which can be assigned to the areas of "learning & teaching", "international discussions", "participating & networking" and "online learning".

It offers an extensive free pool of materials for the educational sector. Particularly noteworthy are the offers for their own web seminars and online learning modules. The offer is supplemented by a project database and the opportunity to present your own project.

The online portal was funded between 2004 and 2012 by the "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future" foundation . In 2011 it was awarded the unit price.

The magazine

An editorially supervised periodical appears monthly under the name LaG-Magazin . The editions mostly have a specific social-historical focus from an epoch or a key event in German history, and are also available as a newsletter .
