Learning system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A learning system is a system that can adjust to the influences of the outside world and adapts to it. A system is the totality of individual elements that are related to and interact with one another.

System types

closed system
A closed system does not accept any external impressions and is therefore neither changeable nor adaptable.
open system
An open system has interfaces to its environment and interacts with it.
learning system
A learning system is an open system that can independently modify its properties based on its interaction with the outside world.

Examples

  • domestic appliances

Today's household appliances are closed systems because they have no relationship with their environment.

  • Organisms

Organisms form open systems because they have interfaces with the environment (e.g. ingestion of food or information).

  • Higher living beings

Higher living beings are open, learning systems, as they can modify their properties based on the information they have received.
