Robinson jr. is an Italian comedy film directed by Sergio Corbucci from 1976 .

action

At the insistence of his wife Magda, the Milan fashion czar Roberto Minghelli goes on a cruise with her. After an exercise had already taken place the day before, Roberto remains sleepy in his bed when the second alarm goes off. The next morning he wakes up in the ship, which has since sunk, and can escape to an island.

Soon he has to find out that he is there all alone and starts to explore the island. Fortunately, he finds a white cockatoo that will keep him company from now on and an abandoned cabin that had a famous previous owner: Robinson Crusoe . Although the city dweller seems to be completely unsuitable for surviving on a desert island , Roberto comes to terms with his situation over time and even leads a relatively happy life. Objects washed up from civilization make this easier for him, but also arouse the urge to get from the island back to Italy.

One day he discovers that he is evidently not alone on the island after all: a young, pretty native woman whom he calls Friday joins him. From then on, they all spend time together, but whenever Roberto Friday comes too close, the island god is angry and prevents a physical connection that Roberto would like to have. After the groom Mandingo arrives on a boat on Friday , both can leave the island. Friday introduces her protector to the tribal chief, who is then accepted into her village community. However, he has to compete with Mandingo in a duel that he thinks he has lost and ends up in the cannibals' soup pot . But this was part of the ceremony of the marriage of Friday and Roberto. Also a return to Robinson's island to ask the island god for his blessing. Although he is now benevolently silent, Roberto hears his name calling. His wife has been looking for him for weeks and has now found him.

Happy to get back to the civilized world, Roberto says goodbye to Friday. On the boat he suddenly looks back sadly and jumps into the sea to swim back, but is fished out of the water by the crew with a net.

Reviews

“Sergio Corbucci's enjoyable slapstick comedy has been one of the most popular feature films on German television for years and has long been a cult film. No wonder, since this Italian comedy pulls almost everything through the cocoa: the usual heroic clichés of adventure films, the managerial behavior of the business elite, Daniel Defoe's literary legacy and the urban dweller's fashionable longing for 'back to nature' ”.
