Reading ring

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A reading ring is a community of readers who exchange books or magazines with one another, acquire or borrow them together.

Examples

The business idea behind the Bertelsmann readers' ring , founded in 1950, was to supply a community of subscribers with books that were selected from a catalog and sent to customers by post without intermediaries.

As a member of a commercially operated reading group , subscribers regularly receive a set of the latest or - at lower costs - older magazines delivered to their homes.

A newer variant is bookcrossing , in which books are passed on. The path of the book can be followed via a database that can be accessed via a website. Every reader can leave their comments there.
