Leste (wind)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Leste (from Spanish el este 'the east', 'the east wind') is a hot, dry desert wind from the Sahara . It blows in Madeira and the Canary Islands . The Leste occurs increasingly from autumn to spring. This wind carries sand from Africa with it, which makes the air on the island appear fog-like.
