Letkiss

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Letkiss (also Letkis ) is a fashion dance that originated in Finland in the early 1960s under the name "Letkajenkka" and is based on the folk dance Jenkka . In Germany in the mid-1970s it was often danced in groups as a school sport. What is striking about the dance are the jumping movements performed while dancing. The musical basis was the instrumental hit Letkiss (1965) by Roberto Delgado (originally as Letkis by the Finnish Jenka band The Finnish Jenka Allstars , composed by Rauno Lehtinen ). In 2001 there was a pop song Letkiss by the group Darling , which was also interpreted by the group Bella Vista as “Come and give me a kiss”.

The dance is danced in 4/4 time as follows:

  • First part: all actions with the left foot
    • Left heel diagonally forward (Heel Tap)
    • Left toe crosses right foot (Ball Tap)
    • Left toe diagonally forward (heel tap)
    • Close your left foot, shift your weight to your left foot.
  • Second part: repetition in opposite directions with the right foot
    • Right heel diagonally forward (Heel Tap)
    • Right toe crosses left foot (Ball Tap)
    • Right toe diagonally forward (heel tap)
    • Close right foot, shift weight to right foot.
  • Third part: the jumps
    • jump on both legs to the right and forward
    • two-legged jump back
    • Jump to the right three times with both legs
