The Lebanese National Library ( Arabic المكتبة الوطنية اللبنانية, DMG al-Maktaba al-Waṭaniyya al-lubnāniyya ; French Bibliothèque nationale du Liban ; BNL) is the national library of Lebanon . It was founded in 1919 by the media historian and book collector Philippe de Tarrazi (1865–1956) in Beirut . The library was looted and destroyed during the Lebanese Civil War. Work has been going on to reopen it since 2007.
