Libbra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Libbra , also Libbra uniforme Toscana , was a Tuscan unit of weight and was established and introduced by law by Grand Duke Peter Leopold on July 11, 1782. It was considered the weight of gold and trade.

The Libbra, translated as "Tuscan pound", has been divided into the following units:

One Libbra = 12 Oncien = 288 Denari = 6912 Grani.

1 oncien (ounce) was calculated with 24 denari and 1 denari with 24 grani.

In 1830 there was a so-called weight copy, which was given differently in terms of weight. A Mr. Kupfer reported 339.48 grams, while a Mr. Chelius reported 359.492 grams.

One Libbra corresponded to 7067 Dutch As or 1 pound and 22 Lot according to Bavarian standards.
