Dragonfly matt
In the game of chess, dragonfly matt is the rarely used term for a (otherwise nameless) rarely occurring but particularly effective matt combination . Here, a runner and a jumper function perfectly together and put the opponent's king - often against a clear physical superiority - matt .
designation
The name is based on the similarity to the body structure of a dragonfly, which can be imagined with some imagination . The effective diagonal of the bishop forms the long, slender body of the insect and the knight, the opposing king and the other fields dominated by the knight form the pair of wings at the end of this body.
particularities
The dragonfly mate is quite rare in tournament chess and therefore attracts a lot of attention in practice. It is particularly spectacular because it is often preceded by a queen sacrifice.
