The delivery reliability defined for contracts or orders , as a pre-scheduled delivery period at the time of order entry at delivery was respected.

Types of delivery reliability

Different cases can be distinguished:

• Customer delivery reliability
• Adherence to deadlines for the first confirmed appointment.

In the case of customer delivery reliability, it is determined whether the date requested by the customer was met at the time of delivery. In most companies, the customer's delivery reliability is worse than the delivery reliability for the first confirmed delivery date, in which the delivery time determined by the ERP system was taken into account. The higher the delivery reliability, the higher the customer satisfaction.

The calculation of the delivery reliability is carried out according to different calculations.

Instead of deliveries, orders, order items or pieces (or other units of measure) can be viewed. Some companies define tolerance ranges for punctuality, e.g. B. that deliveries that were delivered too early are considered to be on time.

rating

The supply chain requires a high level of delivery reliability. The existing ERP systems are based on strict adherence to delivery dates, i.e. high delivery reliability. Many companies have difficulties with high delivery reliability because they work with fluctuating requirements and limited capacities that are not fully covered by the ERP systems. While automotive supplier companies have a very high level of delivery reliability, other industries have a rather poor delivery reliability.

Statements by the supplier about his delivery reliability require knowledge of the exact deliveries to customers, e.g. B. by a cooperating logistics service provider who enters the data in the supplier's ERP system.
