A limes ring is the metal ring or snap ring that is located under the wheel nut that centers and holds the vehicle wheel on the vehicle. This tapers conically towards the wheel and is therefore specifically responsible for centering the wheel on the vehicle. It is standardized as a spring washer according to DIN 74361-C and is used in vintage cars , trucks , agricultural and construction machinery .

With more modern wheel bolts and wheel nuts, this cone is molded onto the screw head or nut, which means that the limes ring is no longer necessary.
