Donald Trump takes the oath of office on two Bibles: below, red, the "Lincoln Bible", above, blue, his " Children's Bible ". Wife Melania holds both.

The Lincoln Bible is called the copy of the Bible on which President Abraham Lincoln swore his oath during his inauguration in 1861 . It is kept in the Library of Congress in Washington.

The 44th US President Barack Obama swore the oath of office on January 20, 2009 on the Lincoln Bible . He was the first president after Lincoln to do that. However, the Chief Justice John Roberts made a slip of the tongue when taking the oath, so that Obama took the oath with a twisted word order and took it again on January 22, 2009, this time without the historical Bible edition.

In the public oath to begin his second term on January 21, 2013, Barack Obama swore again on the Lincoln Bible and on the Bible of Martin Luther King . Donald Trump also swore on the Lincoln Bible when he was inaugurated on January 20, 2017, and also on his “ Children's Bible ”.
