Linda Karshan

Linda Karshan (born September 9, 1947 in Minneapolis ) is an American artist; she lives and works in London and Connecticut.

Life

From 1965 to 1966, Linda Louise Joseph studied fine art at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, and briefly at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (1967). After her father's death, she left the USA and went to Paris from 1967 to 1968 to study art history at the Sorbonne. After her return to the United States, she met her future husband Howard Karshan in New York and went to London with him, where she studied Renaissance art at the Slade School in 1970; at the same time she began studying analytical psychology according to Jung (1970–1972), which she completed in 1983 with a master's degree in art and psychology from Antioch University in London. Instead of starting a professional career in psychology, she focused on her artistic development.

Since 1984 she has had solo exhibitions in galleries and museums in the USA and Europe, the first exhibition being in 1984 at the Clarendon Gallery in London. She has participated in group exhibitions since 1985, most recently in the exhibition Drawing as a Process at the Museum Folkwang Essen (2008).
