Lionginas Abarius

Lionginas Abarius (born August 8, 1929 in Maniuliškės , Zarasai district ) is a Lithuanian musician, composer and professor .

Life

He graduated from the Progymnasium in Antazavė near Zarasai . From 1948 to 1953 he studied at the Vilnius Music School and from 1953 to 1958 at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy . From 1956 to 1962 he directed the choir studies at the J. Tallat Kelpša Music Technology Center . From 1981 he taught at Lietuvos valstybinė konservatorija , from 1991 as professor at the Music and Theater Academy of Lithuania and from 1988 to 1995 as head of the department.

His son was the Lithuanian pianist and composer Gintautas Abarius .
