Lipochromes

Lipochromes are fat-soluble dyes . The most important group in natural lipids are the carotenoids . A greenish tinge of oils in a fat comes from chlorophyll .

A connection can only be perceived in terms of color from nine to eleven conjugated double bonds .

The best known lipochrome is carotene . It is found in butter as well as carrots.
