Georg Friedrich Marienburg

Georg Friedrich Marienburg (born June 4, 1820 in Mühlbach , † November 21, 1881 in Nadesch ) was a linguist and local historian of the Transylvanian Saxons .

Life

GF Marienburg was the son of the Mühlbach land registry administrator and Senator Friedrich Marienburg. After primary school in his hometown and high school in Sibiu , he studied theology and German language and literature at the University of Berlin between 1839 and 1841 . In 1841 and 1843 he studied law at the Reformed Hungarian College in Cluj-Napoca . In 1844 Marienburg became a teacher at the grammar school in Schäßburg and from 1848 pastor in Nadesch , where he stayed until his death. His grave, which he shares with two sons and his second wife, is in the evangelical cemetery in Nadesch.

Services

In addition to his work as a pastor, Marienburg was a member of the district consistory, the regional church assembly, the district marriage court and the association for Transylvanian cultural studies, since its foundation in 1842. In addition, Marienburg was 3 years secretary (syndic), 7 years deputy dean (surrogatus) and 8 years Dean of the Bogeschdorfer chapter (church district).
